MILWAUKEE, WI (WTAQ) – A seven-run eighth inning lifted the Washington Nationals to an 8-5 win over the Milwaukee Brewers in the second-of-three at Nationals Park.
Starting pitcher Jimmy Nelson dominated the Nats for more than seven innings, but the wheels fell off when the bullpen took over. Jacob Barnes was tagged with the loss.
Bright spots came in the first inning with a Domingo Santana home run, and in the ninth with Milwaukee’s top prospect Lewis Brinson hitting his first career home run.
The loss dropped the Brewers a half-game behind the Chicago Cubs in the NL Central.
Milwaukee can win the three game series with the Nationals when they meet again this afternoon in D. C.
