NORTHEAST WISCONSIN, WI (WTAQ) – The Fox Cities and Green Bay are celebrating one branch of the United States military.
‘Navy Week’ coincides with EAA AirVenture in Oshkosh.
Navy Public Affairs Specialist Cecilia Sequeira says various events are set up at the festival, with the goal of educating people about the Navy, its people, and its importance to national security.
“We’re representing the institutional memory of the Navy so we’re bringing a lot of resources to the public. Here there’s not a large Navy presence so we’re bringing that large presence here.”
Petty Officer First Class Ross Brueggeman is a Naval recruiter in Green Bay.
He says just because Wisconsin doesn’t have a Naval base, doesn’t mean people aren’t joining.
“We actually do real well in Green Bay. We average about three to four people a month, and there’s a lot of job fields out there.”
The latest numbers show more than 41-hundred Wisconsinites are currently serving in the Navy.
