SHEBOYGAN COUNTY, WI (WTAQ) – Sheboygan County Sheriff’s officials say the 37 dogs recovered from a former Town of Wilson kennel are on the mend.
However, during a Friday press conference, Captain Cory Roeseller said it would still be awhile until the animals are fully recovered.
Officers seized the dogs last week, following an animal welfare investigation.
Roseller notes what officers encountered during the investigation.
“Also on the property were two large chest freezers. Located inside these chest freezers we located the decaying carcasses of 31 to 40 dogs. The freezer also appeared to not have been functioning for a long period of time.”
In addition, a woman who got a dog from the kennel several years ago says the animal was malnourished, underweight and anti-social.
The district attorney’s office is reviewing charges against those involved.
