APPLETON, WI (WTAQ) – A new airline is coming to Appleton International Airport.
Airport Director Abe Weber says American Airlines will start offering two flights per day between his facility and Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport.
“We’re welcoming the world’s largest airline to the Valley. This provides more choices, more seats. It’s really an indication of growth and investment into our community.”
Weber notes things are getting underway this week.
“Their inaugural flight lands, or arrives, at 12:38 pm Wednesday. That will kick off two flights per day between Appleton and Chicago O’Hare.”
Weber says there is a chance for future expansion.
“At this point, we’ve just spoke about getting support behind this initial offering of Appleton to O’Hare but if it goes well, we will go back to American and talk about adding destinations to their top hubs.”
Weber is excited about the direction Appleton International is heading.
“With the addition of American Airlines, we now have four airlines operating in and out of Appleton. That is Allegiant, American, Delta, and United.”
