APPLETON, WI (WTAQ) – As he traveled the state Tuesday, Governor Walker touted those who have served our country.
It was part of the festivities for Wisconsin Veteran-Owned Business Day.
One of Walker’s four stops was at Appleton’s Rightstone Financial.
Walker says roughly 30% of veterans are likely to hire fellow vets.
“Our goal overall is to have more of our veterans, particularly those men and women returning from deployment overseas recently, to be able to come back and pursue a career, whether that career is owning their own business or whether it’s working for someone who started up a veteran-owned business. We want to see more of that.”
Walker says there are more than 400,000 veterans in the state and around 65,000 veteran-owned businesses.
