GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – She carries a gun and a badge but also has access to a snare pole and snake tongs, just in case an out of control critter crosses her path.
Meet Mallory Meves, Green Bay Police’s only Animal Control Officer.
Animals and people are her true passion and that’s why Meves couldn’t be happier enjoying the best of both worlds, as a sworn humane officer.
“I can assist with patrol calls if I need to and I’m still able to deal with the animal calls. So, to me I’m living my dream.”
She cruises the streets of Titletown in an animal control truck, never knowing what she might encounter.
“I’ve dealt with rattlesnakes in the city, potbellied pigs, horses, we’ve had tigers coming in…different exotic animals,” said Meves.
There are times where she admits, people can be more difficult to handle than animals.
She reminisces one call she was on.
“A gentleman was high on drugs and wanted to hold his pet rattlesnake. He got bit. That gentleman got flighted out for medical treatment and I had to corral the rattle snake and he had poisonous dart frogs in the house.”
