OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ) – Four Oshkosh teens have been taken into custody on charges they stole two vehicles.
Oshkosh Police Officer Joe Nichols says they received a call around 8:30 am Monday.
“Driving recklessly, a citizen reported it. One of our officers just happened to be in the area, located the white Ford Mustang and attempted to stop it. The vehicle pulled over, and all four subjects ran from the vehicle.”
Nichols notes the Mustang, which was reported stolen from Neenah, was driving recklessly in a parking lot in the 3300 block of West 20th Avenue when the citizen made the call.
When police arrived, Nichols says it was heading east on West 20th Avenue before turning into a business driveway in the 2500 block of West 20th Avenue.
Nichols says a perimeter was established, and the teens, a 16-year-old girl and boys aged 16, 15, and 14, were arrested.
“(They will likely face charges in juvenile court of) Operating a Motor Vehicle Without the Owner’s Consent, Resisting an Officer, and also Criminal Trespassing.”
Nichols notes what happened shortly after the teens were taken into custody.
“The black Chevy truck (that was reported stolen from the 1700 block of Oshkosh’s Central Street earlier Monday morning) was discovered south of West 20th Avenue in a muddy area.”
The investigation into the matter is ongoing.
