BROWN COUNTY, WI (WTAQ) – A murder victim’s boyfriend has been charged in a domestic incident involving her sister.
Douglass Detrie faces felony counts of Second Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety and False Imprisonment along with one misdemeanor count of Disorderly Conduct.
The 35-year-old Ledgeview man was arrested for Nicole VanderHeyden’s May 2016 murder but was later released without being charged.
A Brown County judge is expected to rule next month on a motion made by George Burch, the man charged in VanderHeyden’s death, to introduce evidence that shows Detrie is the ‘real killer.’
Now, Detrie has been accused of a February 11 Allouez incident where he was driving in a car with VanderHeyden’s sister, Heather Meyer.
Prosecutors say Detrie touched Meyer’s leg in a sexual manner.
When she refused his advances, Detrie reportedly sped off and would not let her out of the car.
She could not get out of the vehicle until he stopped several miles down the road.
Meyer had been living with Detrie so she could help care for her dead sister’s child.
She allegedly claimed Detrie’s agression toward her had been escalating over time.
Fond du Lac County District Attorney Eric Toney has been named as the special prosecutor to handle the case.
Detrie is scheduled to make an initial appearance June 1.
