MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s Office says the death last month of inmate Larance McMorris at the House of Correction in Franklin was due to “acute carfentanil intoxication.” That’s a powerful animal tranquilizer that’s become more common among drug-users in several urban areas.
The 52-year old died on April 30th. He was rushed by ambulance to a nearby hospital where he couldn’t be revived. The cause of death was just released yesterday. A full autopsy report has not been released because the investigation is ongoing. It’s unclear how he got the drugs, and whether he used in while inside the facility.
His death is the fourth this year in Milwaukee County from the drug, which is typically used to tranquilize elephants and other large animals. It gives a more-powerful high the heroin, but can also be deadly in very small amounts.
