GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – Donors to the ill-fated Colburn Park pool renovation have a decision to make.
The city of Green Bay will offer either a refund or, donors can chose to have their money transferred to the Parks Department.
More than 150 donors pledged nearly $1 million to help build a new pool large enough to host swim meets.
But Green Bay Mayor Jim Schmitt vetoed the project in December because the $5.8 million it would have cost to do it was more than $2 million more than the city had budgeted.
The city is now considering 3 smaller options.
A public information meeting is set for May 18th talk about them.
One is not having a pool, but a new community center. The other two include smaller pools.
But Alderman Chris Wery is offering a fourth option….
He wants to rehab the existing pool, keeping the current design and redoing portions of the bathhouse.
The meeting will be held at Franklin Middle School.
