MANITOWOC COUNTY, WI (WTAQ) – A local cheese manufacturer has made the voluntary decision to recall one of its products.
Henning’s Cheese is recalling its Colby Jack cheese after a pasteurizer temporarily malfunctioned.
The state Department of Agriculture, Trade, and Consumer Protection says it’s not possible to verify whether the cheese has been properly pasteurized.
As a result, any Colby Jack sold in one- or two-pound blocks on or after April 10 is being recalled, totaling roughly 1,000 pounds of cheese.
A label on the bottom of the block of the recalled cheese has the date code ‘1007.’
People with affected cheese can bring it to either the store it was purchased or the Henning’s Wisconsin Cheese store near Kiel for a refund.
No illnesses have been reported.
