MARINETTE, WI (WTAQ) – The Marinette Police Department, Marinette County Sheriff’s Department and the Marinette County Coroner’s Office are investigating an incident that started in Winnebago County and ended with a traffic stop in Marinette.
Last night the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Department alerted police in Michigan’s U-P that a suicidal woman, possibly armed with handgun, was headed that way.
Marinette police came upon the vehicle on Cleveland Avenue.
When officers went up to the vehicle they found the female occupant dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Police say this is not an officer-involved death.
Police are not saying who the woman is, pending notification of family. They do say more information might be released later today.
