FOND DU LAC, WI (WTAQ) – Mercury Marine officially opened a plant containing a $24 million dollar electro deposition paint (EDP) system on Monday.
Mercury leaders say it will more than double the capacity of the current facility.
The expansion is part of Mercury’s investment of more than $730 million since 2008 on additions and improvements to the global headquarters in Fond du Lac.
The new plant broke ground in 2015, but it took 18 months to complete.
Mercury Marine’s president, John Pfeifer, says the EDP system improves the quality of Mercury’s products, giving them the reliability to sustain harsh environments.
“This sets Mercury up for the next 20, maybe 30 years to continue to grow globally with the products we produce,” Pfiefer said.
