UNDATED (WTAQ) – Wisconsin’s 8th Congressional District will remain in Republican hands, as political newcomer Mike Gallagher easily defeats Democrat Tom Nelson Tuesday.
Gallagher spent 7 years in the Marines and worked as a National Security adviser for Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker’s presidential bid earlier this year. Currently, Gallagher works as a market strategist for Breakthrough Fuel in Green Bay.
“In Wisconsin, we work hard to take care of our families, we’re good neighbors, we’re nice, we pay our debts, we take care of our veterans, we respect law enforcement and when we have a little time and money left over, we use it to help those who are most in need,” said Gallagher about what he hopes to bring to Washington D.C. “In other words, we place faith in ourselves and each other and not in government.”
Nelson says he’ll re-focus his efforts as Outagamie County’s executive.
The seat became open following the announcement back in January by Rep. Reid Ribble (R-Sherwood) that he would not seek another term.
