Multiple reports have the Green Bay Packers sending a conditional 2017 draft choice to the Kansas City Chiefs for backup running back Knile Davis.
His agent confirmed to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinal that Davis is on his way to Green Bay and is expected to practice Tuesday.
The former third round pick out of Arkansas has fallen on the Chiefs depth chart this year. The 5-10, 227 pound back has 775 career rushing yards in three plus seasons. Davis also has returned three kickoffs for touchdowns in his career.
The Packers were forced to make the deal when James Starks injured a knee last week that required a repair to his meniscus. He’s expected to miss at least a few more weeks.
Starter Eddie Lacy suffered a sprained ankle against the New York Giants and played last Sunday against Dallas, gaining 65 yards on 17 carries but it was clear he was limited.
Green Bay is also expected to activate practice squad running back Don Jackson onto the active roster.
The team would have to release two players to make room for the new running backs.
More details on the moves should be announced by the team later today in advance of Thursday night’s game against the Chicago Bears at Lambeau Field.
