OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ) – Police say an inmate attacked an Oshkosh Correctional Institution officer with a “makeshift knife.”
Officials say the incident happened while the 37-year-old correctional officer was escorting the 49-year-old inmate around 10 a.m. Tuesday. Other prison employees managed to subdue the inmate.
The officer suffered non-life-threatening injuries to his arm.
Police are seeking charges of battery by an inmate.
The Wisconsin Department of Corrections says the living unit where the assault happened was placed on temporary lockdown while the incident is being investigated.
