GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – It appears that Green Bay Mayor Jim Schmitt’s campaign finance case will be resolved in December.
According to online court records, a plea and sentencing hearing for Schmitt will take place at 9 a.m. on December 5.
Schmitt’s initial appearance is scheduled for Wednesday morning, where his attorney says the mayor will not attend. At that time, it was expected to allow for scheduling of that plea and sentencing hearing.
Last month, Schmitt was charged with 3 misdemeanor counts for allegedly receiving improper donations. Schmitt received a plea deal, where he’s expected to plead guilty in exchange for prosecutors not recommending any jail or probation time.
WTAQ first reported the details of the Brown County Sheriff’s Department’s investigative report, used by Milwaukee County Assistant District Attorney Bruce Landgraf as the basis for the plea deal.
