New Gingrich has, at times, been intellectually honest about Donald Trump, even as he is among his staunchest defenders. That's what
made this smack down
so stunning.
Gingrich concedes Trump has had a horrible week and hasn't looked presidential. Further he is particularly harsh in his criticism about Trump's middle of the night tweets flaming former beauty pageant queen Alicia Machado. In fact, Gingrich rightly points out that someone who wants to be president shouldn't tweet about anything at 3 AM.
Trump sycophant Sean Hannity doesn't openly criticize Trump in this exchange but he doesn't really challenge Gingrich either. For Trump's butt kisser in chief, that's a virtual smackdown of the Donald itself.
