FOND DU LAC, WI (WTAQ) – The case of the man accused of the 1990 murder of Berit Beck now has a new judge.
Online court records show that Fond du Lac County Judge Robert Wirtz will handle the re-trial of Dennis Brantner.
The next step in the case is a scheduling conference set for October 19.
Brantner was tried earlier this year for Beck’s murder, but the case ended in a hung jury.
Earlier this week, Judge Gary Sharpe removed himself from the case, deciding comments he made outside the courtroom could result in some questioning his impartiality.
