FOREST COUNTY, WI (WTAQ) – No one was hurt after a plane crashed into Lake Metonga in Forest County.
According to the sheriff’s department, their dispatch center received a call at 3:50 p.m. Friday about a plane that crashed while attempting to land on the lake.
Deputies arrived on scene to find the airplane, which is designed for water landings, upside down in the lake.
The 64-year-old pilot and his 16-year-old passenger were able to free themselves from the plane and get to safety thanks to other boaters in the area.
Officials say the investigation is ongoing. The Wisconsin DNR and Crandon Police Department also responded to the scene.
