GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – A man was arrested after an hours long standoff in Green Bay early Friday.
Green Bay Police were called to the 1300 block of Lawe Street around 1:20 a.m. for a report of a man yelling in his upper-level apartment.
When officers arrived, they say the suspect exited the home and fired a gunshot from his back porch. He then went back inside.
Police used an armored vehicle to evacuate people living in the downstairs apartment.
Surrounding homes were also evacuated. Several roads in the area were closed.
Police used chemicals to get the man out of his home.
“We tried several times to make contact with him, he refused all our orders to exit the house on his own,” said Capt. Brad Florence, Green Bay Police Department.
Police say no one was hurt. The 36-year-old man was taken into custody.
The Green Bay P.D. have referred charges to the district attorney’s office of recklessly endangering safety, being an intoxicated person in possession of a firearm, failing to comply with officers trying to take a person into custody, possession of marijuana and disorderly conduct.
