SHAWANO, WI (WTAQ) – The Shawano School District says concerns about mold will change high school classes around as the year is about to begin.
The district released a statement indicating an issue with the school’s cooling system developed during summer, causing mold to develop in some classrooms in the building’s elective wing.
District officials say the mold was not toxic, but was visible. An air quality test was conducted, which found an elevated level of mold.
The district hired a cleaning service who’s in the process of handling the situation, but the cleaning won’t be done before the first day of school Thursday, September 1st.
Due to the cleaning, some classes may be held in alternate locations at the high school.
The district says a notice will be sent out to families, altering them of the issue.
