TOWN OF BELLE PLAINE, WI (WTAQ) – The development of a new retail center in the Shawano area has been announced by a north central Wisconsin tribe.
The Stockbridge-Munsee Band of Mohican Indians say the $1.3 million, 12,000 square-foot center will be located near U.S. Highway 29, on the corner of State Highway 22 and County Road CC in the Town of Belle Plaine.
Officials say the retail center will house up to 5 tenants and provide new jobs for the area.
“This retail center will bring new jobs and increased shopping activity to the Belle Plaine and Shawano areas,” said Belle Plaine Town Chairman Alvin Bartz. “We expect this will spur other developments in the area and we applaud the Stockbridge-Munsee Mohican Tribe for their continued investment in the local communities surrounding their tribal lands.”
A groundbreaking ceremony will be held Friday, Sept. 2 at 10:00 a.m. at the site.
Construction has already started. The exterior construction is expected to be completed by the end of 2016.
