GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – Despite being in the dog days of summer, city officials are thinking and prepping for serious winter weather.
Green Bay’s director of public works, Steve Grenier, says they are currently doing routine maintenance on the plows.
“Recoating the plow blades, painting them if necessary, and any structural issues that we notice.”
Grenier says they are in an active training period.
“We’ve actually acquired some new pieces of hardware where we can modify our plows with some heavy duty caster wheels and get our drivers out and do some simulated snow plow training.”
Public works professionals are also looking forward to the 27th annual Snowplow Roadeo and Equipment Show at Lambeau Field.
“It’s a combination of educational and skills competition for snow plow drivers from across the state,” says Grenier.”
Last year over 100 teams from across the state participated in the obstacle course competition.
