GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – As Packers training camp opens today (TUE), fans have traveled in from all over to catch a glimpse of this year’s team.
That means big business for area hotels, restaurants and retailers over the next month or so.
Amanda Watson is General Manager at Stadium View in Ashwaubenon…
“we double up staff during practices…we obviously order more beer and liquor”
As for the fans…..Joe Masuhas and his grandsons drove in from California.
“we’re going to by some souvenirs and tour the stadium.
Grandson Joey Claycomb says he’s excited to watch the practices…and see all he can.
“I really want to see all the different statues and the Hall of Fame”
Packers training camp has a total economic impact of about $9 million per year.
In addition to Packers training camp there’s a bonus this year.
Another big boost to local businesses will be fans coming in for the Lambeau Field College Classic between the Badgers and L-S-U on Sept. 3.
