APPLETON, WI (WTAQ) – An inmate at the Outagamie County Jail who attempted suicide last week has died.
According to a release by the Outagamie County Sheriff’s Department, the 29-year-old man was pronounced dead at a local hospital on Sunday. He was taken there last Thursday night after jail employees found him hanging by a bedsheet.
Jail workers and paramedics tried to resuscitate him.
Authorities plan an autopsy on the man’s body. They also plan to conduct an internal review and call in another law enforcement agency to conduct a review.
The state Department of Corrections’ regional jail inspector will also investigate the case, jail officials say.
