GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – Green Bay police want to ensure that the water is as safe as the streets.
Capt. Kevin Warych says that includes keeping booze off boats…
“when people choose to consumer alcohol on a boat it’s very dangerous. and, if not done properly and safely, it poses a risk not only to them, their occupants, but too all boaters”
Warych recommends having a designated driver.
He also says if you’re going to be on a boat, make sure to wear a life jacket.
It’s the most important life saving tool you can have on the water.
“if people are wearing their life-jackets it’s the same as wearing a seatbelt in a car”
If you do drink, Warych says you should have a designated driver.
He says drunk boating is more dangerous than drunk driving because of more variables.
