APPLETON, WI (WTAQ) – People in the Fox Valley are standing in solidarity with Orlando Tuesday night.
A vigil held at Rascals Bar in Appleton, a club primarily catering to the LGBTQ community, brought out a big crowd.
Kathy Flores helped organize the vigil.
“think it’s important that we come together and mourn the victims of Orlando, but more importantly that we come together as a community”
Flores says there’s a message that’s being sent as well.
“celebrate our lives and who we are, and hate is not going to win….love is going to win”
Earlier in the evening in Menasha, a similar vigil was held, but for local youth.
Earlier in the evening Tuesday, a youth vigil was held in Menasha, for those under 21 years old.
Haruka Yukioka helped organize the youth vigil
“I think it’s so incredibly important. Youth are the future of this nation and for the LGBT movement, youth are going to be able to continue this movement”
A vigil on the UWGB campus is set for today.
