DOOR COUNTY, WI (WTAQ) – A teen in Door County has died from bacterial meningitis.
According to the Sevastopol School District, 8th grader Matthew West died recently. District officials say his organs were donated.
The Door County Public Health Department has sent a letter to parents of students who participated in athletic activities with West. The letter asks parents to be on the lookout for symptoms of the illness, including sudden onset of high fever, severe headache, fatigue, lethargy, nausea and/or vomiting, a stiff or rigid neck, rash and sensitivity to light.
Anyone whose child shows symptoms is advised to contact a doctor immediately.
