GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – The Summer Food Program in the Green Bay area has started at local parks and schools.
Children in the community will have access to free breakfast and lunch at schools, while lunch is available at the parks.
It’s rooted in a federal program providing free meals to all children 18 and younger on weekdays until August 12. The exceptions are July 4 and July 26.
School officials says it’s a way to try and ensure children don’t go hungry during the summer months.
“Many kids eat breakfast, lunch and sometimes even dinner at school and the summer meal program is a way to continue those meals during the summer when kids might not be in school or don’t have meals at home,” Amy Zellner of Green Bay Area Public Schools told FOX 11.
Adults can eat for $2.00.
