GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – The Islamic Society of Wisconsin is speaking out after the horrific terror attack on an Orlando night club that killed at least 50 people and more than 50 were wounded.
Hamayun Mian is with the society and says this violence is not acceptable.
“Islamically, I can tell you that any kind of innocent life killing like that, is not permissible. So we do not support it, we do not support any organization that supports it.”
Mian has lived in the Green Bay area for 10 years and says he has a good relationship with individuals and the community.
“We work with the authorities well, and we work with doing a lot of bridge-building in the community, so we try to do our effort for what we can.”
However, Mian says you can’t foresee people’s behavior.
“You can’t predict if you have some minorities wanting to take action, you know, there’s nothing you can do.”
The FBI says Orlando nightclub gunman, Omar Mateen, called 9-1-1 and swore allegiance to ISIS before opening fire.
This event is being called the worst mass shooting in U.S. history.
