GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – Officials with Wisconsin Public Service continue to receive numerous reports of scam calls targeting businesses, including restaurants and daycare centers.
According to WPS, the caller claims to be from the utility company and demands money within 45 minutes or the power will be shut off to the business.
The caller then tells the victim to go to a Walgreens, CVS or other big box store to obtain a prepaid card.
WPS says it would never tell a customer that power will be disconnected within 45 minutes or demand a prepaid card as payment.
If you receive one of these types of calls, do not provide any personal information and hang up. You can always contact WPS regarding any issues with your bill.
