MENASHA, WI (WTAQ) – About 230 people will be out of work when a Menasha plant closes later this year.
A spokeswoman for Graphic Packaging International says the plant will close in phases, starting in July.
The company says the Menasha facility’s place in the supply chain and its marketing capabilities are leading to the closure. Graphic Packaging, has plans to move processing to newer facilities. The Menasha plant was built in 1946.
The company says the Menasha workforce is great and the closure does not reflect employees’ abilities or their work ethic.
Employees are being encouraged to apply for other jobs at Graphic Packaging locations around the Midwest.
According to the company’s website, Graphic Packaging makes branded packages for food.
