GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – Construction on the new 144-room Lodge Kohler, right across the street from Lambeau Field, has only been going on for three weeks, but a list of potential guests is already being formed.
Aaron Popkey is with the Green Bay Packers….and he’s excited.
“the excitement is there and as we develop more definitive timelines we’ll definitely have conversations with those who have reached out”
Among those showing interest are groups that perhaps wouldn’t have previously considered holding meetings or a convention in Green Bay because of a lack of a luxury hotel.
Brad Toll is with the Greater Green Bay Convention & Visitor’s Bureau. He says that issue is being addressed.
“we’ve had a very nice hotel package but four star-four diamond is something new to our market. so, we’re getting the word out and so far we’re getting great interest”
Lambeau Field already hosts more than 800 events a year. Those range from small suite meetings to large atrium gatherings.
The Packers have said more event opportunities were a major factor in partnering with Kohler Company on the hotel.
Lodge Kohler is scheduled to open July 2017. Hotel Northland developers hope to open in downtown Green Bay this fall.
