OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ) – Charges were filed Monday against a Lutheran Reverend caught in an online sex sting.
28-year-old Joshua Scheil of Trevor, Wisconsin, is charged with multiple counts, including using a computer to facilitate a child sex crime. He’s a Lutheran Reverend in Twin Lakes.
According to the criminal complaint, Scheil made contact with someone he thought was a 13-year-old girl from the Oshkosh area in March. It turns out that was an undercover analyst with the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office.
Scheil, who went by the online identifier “Rev”, sent sexually explicit messages and stated multiple times he wanted to have sexual relations with her when they met.
The complaint states that Scheil arranged a meeting at an Oshkosh hotel on April 12. He was arrested by investigators at the meeting location.
Investigators say they seized Scheil’s phone at the time of arrest as evidence.
He’s being held on a $10,000 cash bond.
