FOND DU LAC, WI (WTAQ) – A Saturday Night Live skit dealing with heroin has prompted Dodge County Sheriff Dale Schmidt to write the network.
He says he heard from families who’ve lost loved ones to the drug.
“One of them was telling me that they also watched the skit and started crying in the middle of it. These are very emotionally charged issues and these families have gone through a lot. None of them like to see anybody making light of a situation like this.”
A commercial parody on SNL showed cast members and host Julia Louis-Dreyfus using a mock product called “Heroin AM.”
“I’m just making my opinion known to NBC asking them to consider what they’re doing before they put something like this on the air in the future,” said Schmidt.
Schmidt says there’s a heroin epidemic and promoting its use is not funny.
