GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – An apartment building fire has sent five people to the hospital.
Green Bay Metro Fire officials were called just before 7:40 a.m. Wednesday to 1119 Cherry Street for a smell of gas. When crews arrived, they found smoke from a basement fire had spread throughout the two-story, 8-unit building.
Two people were rescued from second-story windows.
5 people were hospitalized for smoke inhalation. 10 others were taken by city bus to another location.
Firefighters are working to figure out exactly where and how the fire started.
