GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – A Bellevue man is facing trial for allegedly abusing his children because, “they made a mess in the house.”
26-year-old Andrew J. Ion is facing five counts, including physical abuse of a child/intentionally cause bodily harm and battery/domestic abuse.
According to the criminal complaint, Brown County Sheriff’s deputies were called on August 31, 2015, for a woman claiming her husband mistreated her and their children.
That call was made by a family friend.
During an interview with Ion, deputies were told by him that he disciplined the children because, “They made a mess in the house.”
He also explained that he has an anger problem.
Andrew Ion is also charged with felony bail jumping after missing a scheduled court appearance in this case on January 25, 2016.
Ion is due back in Brown County court on for his arraignment on the bail jumping charge, and a final pre-trial hearing on the other counts. If convicted on all charges, Ion faces about 13 years in prison.
