GRAND CHUTE, WI (WTAQ) – A Grand Chute apartment complex fire Monday morning leaves one police officer injured with smoke inhalation.
Fire crews were called to 3620 W. Spencer Street around 7:40 a.m. after residents called 911 to report smoke in the hallway.
Upon arrival, firefighters saw smoke billowing out of the second floor of the 24-unit apartment building. They went inside and got the flames under control in about 15 minutes.
Just one apartment unit was damaged, and it was vacant at the time.
Crews remained on the scene for about 2 hours, with residents being allowed back in their homes before the firefighters left.
No one else was injured. No word yet on a cause or damage estimate.
