UNDATED (WTAQ) – For the first time in 20 years, the UW-Green Bay Phoenix will play in the men’s NCAA Basketball touranment.
During the NCAA Selection show, UWGB was given a 14th seed in the West Region and will play 3rd seeded Texas A&M on Friday in Oklahoma City.
Green Bay beat Wright State to win the Horizon League tournament championship 78-69 on Tuesday night in Detroit. The Phoenix are 23-12 overall, including 11-7 in Horizon League play.
Texas A&M finished the season 26-8 overall, including 13-5 in the SEC earning the co-regular season title. The Aggies lost to Kentucky in the SEC tournament final on Sunday to Kentucky 82-77 in overtime.
UWGB and Texas A&M have played just one other time, back in 1995 when the Phoenix defeated the Aggies 60-49.
