WAUKESHA, WI (WTAQ) – Gambling addiction around the country and the state of Wisconsin is an affliction that’s not going away anytime soon.
The 17th Annual Wisconsin Council on Problem Gambling Statewide Conference is scheduled for Thursday and Friday, March 10-11 at the Milwaukee Marriott West in Waukesha.
Local and national experts in the field will be covering a range of topics, including: The effects of advertising on gambling clients in treatment, gaming versus gambling, gambling and the family and gambling issues then and now.
Rose Gruber is executive director of the Wisconsin Council on Problem Gambling. She says if you suspect someone you know has a gambling addiciton, there are signs to look for.
“First of all, someone who is gambling and never has before…then spending more money, spending more time gambling. It may be affecting their personal life, their work life.”
Gruber estimates that around 32,000 people in Wisconsin are affected by gambling issues.
