SHAWANO, WI (WTAQ) – A Shawano man is pleading not guilty to his role in an exchange of gunfire case.
29-year-old Andrew Thomas is charged with 2 counts of first-degree recklessly endangering safety for allegedly opening fire from a driveway on another man back on January 4.
A trial date was not set Monday. Thomas is due back in court May 11 for a pre-trial conference.
The other suspect in the case, Tony Brunker, is due in court for a similar hearing on March 8.
Authorities say the incident began at a downtown Shawano bar, when a dispute occurred between Brunker and several other people. During that incident, the rear window of Brunker’s pickup truck was busted out.
Later that night, Brunker drove past a home on Richmond Street when he and Thomas shot at each other. Thomas told the cops he shot first, according to documents filed with the criminal complaint.
No one was injured in the shooting.
