GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – 1st and 2nd graders at Aldo Leopold Community School will spend the next four weeks learning about how to run businesses and how to make a successful city.
“The kids are going to learn about what it means to set up a business, they’ll have jobs to do….they’ll have to apply for the jobs,” said teacher Lisa Zriny, who’s one of the organizers of “Kid Town”.
Students already heard from Green Bay Mayor Jim Schmitt. He was surprised to hear kids this young already asking about what the city does to help the homeless.
“For them to ask about how we address the homeless, and hunger in the city of Green Bay….that’s an insightful and awesome question.”
The Kid Town project will also include visits by area business leaders, and the kids going on field trips to get a first hand look at how businesses and government is run.
