NEW YORK (WTAQ) – One of the Green Bay Packers’ “Glory Years” players from the 1960s has sold his Super Bowl I ring for more than $125,000.
It was among 50 items from Jerry Kramer’s memorabilia collection sold during the weekend as part of a larger online sports sale by Heritage Auctions — and the ring is thought to be the first Packer item to be auctioned-off for more than $100,000.
The 80-year-old Kramer was a guard who made the key block in the 1967 Ice Bowl that sent Green Bay to the second AFL/NFL Championship Game.
Kramer says he’s keeping his ring from Super Bowl II because it means so much to him. He planned to put his auction proceeds toward a college fund for his grand-children.
