Green Bay, WI (WTAQ) – The Brown County Sheriff’s Office is honoring it’s own for going above and beyond while doing their job in 2015. And “Officer Of The Year” is one of the most prestigious categories.
The winner this year is Lt Jim Valley. Valley is the county’s leader, and recognized nationally, when it comes to investigations involving internet crimes against children.
“kind of identifying the problem and enforcing it at the same time”
Sheriff John Gossage says Brown County has become much more proactive in this growing segment of criminal activity since Valley came on board two years ago.
“technology brings great things however, it also brings the illicit activity that is on the internet”
Valley has been the go-to guy in organizing multi-agency efforts to track and arrest those who use a computer or social media to prey on kids.
Those efforts have proven so successful that other counties around the state have taken notice and now use similar campaigns in their communities.
Valley worked for the Door County Sheriff’s Department prior to coming to Brown County.
