GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – A Brown County non-profit organization needs your help finding a home.
Heaven’s Touch, Inc., which helps single pregnant/parenting women and their children to rebound from trials and trauma that have negatively impacted their lives, was forced out of a building last April.
“We lost our 10,000 square foot building because the owner could not use our $60,000 donation receipt,” said Founder, President and CEO Cindy Guevara. “So we are looking for a building, 40,000 square feet or more, in which to put everything into one location to help us operate more effectively.”
Guevara currently works out of her home, with the contents being moved into three 53-foot semi-trailers, a 4,000 square foot warehouse, 13 storage units and 54 pallets of product at RGL Holding.
“We will need approximately five offices or the ability to put walls up to make five offices, the rest of the space can be open,” said Guevara. “We are also looking to purchase our own building, which would be nice, and we are looking for finances to support us and to continue our ongoing program.”
Guevara says Heaven’s Touch, Inc. has helped over 7,000 women in Brown County to get back on their feet and lead productive lives.
“Our goal is to get them off the system, help them become self-sufficient and be a productive asset to the community,” Guevara said. “Our four objectives are housing, education, parenting and employment.”
Heaven’s Touch also assists women with household items, furniture, clothing, a food pantry, hygiene products, and gas cards and back to school supplies. The group also offers financial planning and budgeting, cooking classes and an incentive educational program.
Guevara says that they not only help these women, but in turn, help their children.
“They’re showing their children, because more is caught than taught, that they are being productive and being good role models,” Guevara said. “Because their children will follow in their footsteps.”
