APPLETON, WI (WTAQ) – The investigation continues into a recent string of armed robberies in the Appleton area.
Police releasing a photo of a possible suspect vehicle, and offering up to a $500 reward for information leading to an arrest in a robbery that took place on January 13th, at a Walgreens in the 700 block of West Northland Avenue.
The combination of a gun and the apparent desperation of the person, or persons, committing the crimes, raises the stakes.
“You don’t know what’s in their minds, and you don’t know how they’re going to react.”
Appleton Police Sgt Dave Lund is also worried that a victim might try and take down the robber.
“Don’t be a hero…..don’t be that individual that’s going to try and do something to that suspect to try and thwart the robbery.”
As far as a motive, Lund says it could be anything from trying to support a drug habit to someone who recently lost their job and is looking for cash to pay the rent.
Lund does not believe the robberies are the work of one person, but would not rule out the possibility they may be carried out by a group working together.
