APPLETON, WI (WTAQ) – Appleton police say a man has been arrested after allegedly stabbing his brother in the chest.
Officers were called just after 1 a.m. Sunday to an apartment in the 1800 block of E. Robin Way.
The brothers had been drinking at a restaurant when they started to argue, according to police. After they were kicked out of the restaurant, they went back to the suspect’s apartment.
Police say the argument escalated when the 21-year-old victim and several others refused to leave the apartment. While trying to chase the people out, 29-year-old Long Thao stabbed his brother with a long kitchen knife.
Authorities say Thao was arrested without incident and officers found the knife at the apartment.
The victim was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries, but police say he’s expected to survive.
Police are recommending charges of second-degree recklessly endangering safety, aggravated battery, and disorderly conduct, possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia against Thao.
He has not yet been formally charged.
