RUSHFORD, WI (WTAQ) – Authorities will continue the search for a missing Omro man last seen on Friday night in Winnebago County.
The Winnebago County Sheriff’s dive team began the search around 11:40 a.m. Saturday after authorities found tracks leading toward the Fox River near Delhi Road in Rushford. Authorities say the 39-year-old Omro man was part of a group that was vacationing in the area.
Authorities say the man was staying at a cabin along the river when he went looking for his dog.
“At this time, we are not certain if the dog went in first or the individual,”Lt. Lori Seiler told FOX 11.
With the biiterly cold temperatures Sunday, rescue crews had to take extra precautions to stay warm.
Seiler said the water conditions also pose a problem because some areas of the river are frozen, where others are not.
“The currents are really fast, which is keeping portions of the river open at this time,”said Lt. Seiler.
The name of the missing man has not yet been released.
