SHAWANO COUNTY, WI (WTAQ) – Investigators with the Shawano County Sheriff’s Office say they want to see the complete video and want to interview the person who allegedly shot it before they take any action against the owners of a mink farm.
The edited video seems to show instances of animal abuse at the Dillenburg Fur Farm in the Town of Belle Plaine.
The animal protection group PETA released the video earlier this week while calling for a criminal investigation. The partial video was apparently provided by someone who worked at Dillenburg Fur Farm.
According to the Shawano County Sheriff’s Department, investigators conducted an extensive investigation that included enlisting the assistance of the Animal Health Section of the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection, the Wisconsin DNR and a Wisconsin expert veterinarian on mink farms.
On Thursday, a detective and deputy, who’s been trained to investigate animal abuse allegations, went with the expert veterinarian to meet with the business owner and inspect the farm. At the time, Shawano County Sheriff’s officials say no violations were seen.
Officials say the investigation is ongoing and they’re looking for more information, provide a copy of the full video and make the witness available for questioning.
